(01)About the practice

What Dr Poornachander does

General surgery covers the common problems that eventually need an operation - hernias, gallstones, the appendix, piles - plus the lump nobody wants to ignore. Much of it is now keyhole surgery, which means smaller cuts and a faster return home. The thing that changes outcomes most is timing: an appendix or an obstructed hernia left too long becomes an emergency, so the department is set up to assess quickly rather than add you to a long waiting list.

(02)Education

Qualifications, in plain words

  1. MBBSBachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery - the primary medical degree, five and a half years including internship.
  2. MSMaster of Surgery - three years of postgraduate surgical training.

Council registration, society memberships and published work are listed once the consultant supplies them. We publish the degrees the hospital holds on record and nothing beyond that.

(06)Questions

Before you book

Do I have to pay to book?

No. Booking is free and there is no online payment. The ₹400 consultation fee is paid at the hospital desk on the day.

What if I just walk in?

Walk-ins are always seen. Booking only means you are not waiting - Dr Poornachander consults every day, open 24 hours.

Which languages can I be seen in?

Dr Poornachander consults in Tekugu, Enlglish. If you would be more comfortable in another language, tell the front desk when you book and they will arrange for someone to sit in.

Where do I go once I have registered?

OPD Block · General Surgery. The desk will point you to it, and your OP number is called from there.

How soon will I get my reports?

Routine blood work comes back in about 30 minutes, so in most cases the doctor can go through the results with you in the same visit rather than at another one.

Can I change or cancel the time?

Yes - call the front desk on +91 9100005195 and they will move it. Please give as much notice as you can, so the slot goes to someone else.

What should I bring?

What about an emergency?
